SECU Family House, 4.21.2010
![]() Thomas H. Hughes Architecture, P.C. has been commissioned to design the new SECU Family House to be located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The new facility represents a first of its kind for the Triad area. The City of Winston-Salem has two large medical centers in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center and these two centers care for a great deal of people from surrounding areas. The SECU Family House will help family members with limited funding, by providing lodging during a family member's inpatient stay at one of the medical centers. The Family House will be a three story 34,000 square foot facility. There will be guest rooms for 47 guests, a large living room area, a large dining space, kitchen amenities, laundry facilities, a library, a chapel, and all the administrative offices for the house. The design for the building reflects a sense of home and tries to provide a welcoming series of spaces for those individuals going through difficult times. When completed the SECU Family House will enhance the City and offer a new possibility for those family members of an inpatient at one of the medical centers. |
